We provide an active community full of events including our Halloween parade, Solstice caroling and annual Block Party. The West 102nd & 103rd Streets Block Association welcomes new members who live in our district on the Upper West Side of Manhattan (New York City). That area includes W. 102nd and W. 103rd Streets from Broadway to Riverside Drive and West End Avenue between W. 102nd and W. 103rd Streets.

Dear Friends and Neighbors, Our latest edition is here! In it you’ll find information about our second annual Longest Table community outdoor picnic (Sun., June 14, 5–7pm). Registration is now open! If you don’t feel like cooking, this year some of our local restaurants are offering Longest Table discounts on takeout. Go to the FAQs page to learn more about the event and to see the list of restaurants. In this issue, we also report on this spring’s Annual Meeting; introduce our three latest inductees to our Neighborhood Hall of Fame; review the popular local restaurant Telio; and interview a Block Association member, a self-described “activist artist,” whose arresting climate-related sculpture is currently exhibited in Riverside Park. We encourage you to forward the newsletter to anyone who may not already be on our list so they can sign up to receive Block Association email updates and support the organization’s many community-based activities and services. The Block Association Mourns Ted Berger
Our sympathies to Asya Berger and her son Jonathan on the loss of the great Ted Berger who died on January 29, 2026. A tribute will appear in our Spring newsletter by his neighbors KC Rice and Peter Frishauf who tell of Ted and Asya's optimism and commitment to social justice, the arts and culture. "Ted operated on a large stage that helped shape the arts world of our city, state, country, and internationally. Locally, he gave just as much —always with his signature smile, abundant hair, and red-framed glasses. Ted worked hard for this block association."
They gave a gift to neighbors on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of this organization in the form of a wonderful trip down memory lane: a talk recalling the earliest block parties and sense of community these created. You can catch that talk here.
